My Resolutions

It the most depressing time of the year for me. I’m always in a reflective mood towards the end of the year. I have made some definite resolutions this year. Mainly as I made such a mess up of last year. One of them is to spend 90% of my time at my piano making music. I didn’t do a lot of writing last year. I wasn’t completely a disaster but not anywhere near what I wanted so here’s to a fresh start.

So my resoluions are….

!. Spend 90% of my time making music.

2. Get back into shape. (an Oldie but goodie)

3. Take control back of my life one tiny step at a time.

4. Don’t take no for an answer.

5. Complete all tasks on my Don’t leave the house To Do List. .

The last on this list is going to be the most difficult as it could take 6 months to get through.

Started new blog at blogspot today..

Well, no procrastinating today. I just start a new blog using Blogspot. Already I feel quite excited. It’s going to be a bit more grown up then this one. I think and I will concentrate more on my work process then mere musings, which I do on this blog. I,ve made soooooo many mistakes, jeez! But I’m still quite newish to blogging, so I guess it’s allowed. Anyway this is may first post.

How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time.

Who’s says, the little things don’t count? I can honestly say, this year has been one of the worst on record. I’ve have been ill, poisoned myself, watched my skin repeat its’ teenage years (spots). I’ve lost friends and gained quite a lot of weight and my Career kind of just froze. I cannot explain why any of these things happened. All I can say is,  my life has been completely out of control. And quite frankly, the Aries fire fighting side of me has well and truly had enough. It’s time to grab the reigns again and kick the shit out of every obstacle that I have hit, and send it crashing to the ground. Starting with the washing up.

What’s that saying? How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time.

Moving Blog.

Moving has been on my mind for many reasons. One of them is this blog. I think I’m going to move from Tumblr . I know Tumblr is super easy to use but there are so many functions  missing that doesn’t really make sense. My main gripe is the layout and themes are so limiting at the moment. And unless I really want to get into Html (which I don’t) I’m stuck with layouts that I’m not really happy with. I’ve don’t really feel like I got into a groove on Tumblr so maybe it’s time for a change.

My main choices woud be…

Blogspot I already have a blog or maybe Word Press although that looks more compilcated.

The one thing my microscopic experience of blogging has taught me is part of the motivation to blog is that you are happy about the presentation of your blog. I’m going to a decision in the next day or so.

It's cold!!!!!!!!!!!

BedroomDiva

One of the disadvantages of Loft living is that the winters can be bitterly cold, or is the just an England? Whatever!  I have had to decamp to my bedroom. My Cosy (and more importantly warm) bedroom has become my office, as I can’t even leave the house at the moment. (Flu). I’m chirpy as I get to play with my newest and best toy eh (gadget) of the year.  My new  Samsung Nc10 Netbook. I’ve been taking it everywhere. The Library, to meetings, out and about, it fabulous. It’s so light and convenient you just make up excuses to use it. Even though I consider myself a Mac girl, in fact I was on my way to the Applestore to buy an external hard drive when I got side tracked and bought it.

I’m sure I’ll end up at Starbucks hanging out with my Netbook, even though I don’t drink coffee. In fairness this is my first Laptop ( yes , I must, be the only one on the planet to unleash such a sentence) so my giddy tourist approach to mobile blogging can be forgiven. But right now I’m in my bedroom, in songwriting mode. I’m working on my next project ‘Misadventures’.  and it’s nice and warm, very cosy. I’ll be here for the next three months no doubt.

The good news is I’m seriously thinking of upping sticks and moving to LA. But thats a whole ‘nother blog.

It's going to be a good day!

I’m waiting for my friend the London based artist, Sumiko Seki.  Her show is coming up  soon (November 3rd) and I’m getting a sneak preview of her new pieces. Sumiko’s one of my favourite artist as she seems to think along the same lines as I do with her work. Something interesting is going to happen. I’ll keep you posted.

I am Reliable!

Picture 2

I was watching an interview featuring Paul Smith the other day. He was talking about how he used to play with train in the middle of business meetings when he was bored. He said  ”it didn’t matter, because I was reliable.”

This got me thinking. I’m not sure if people could describe me as reliable. I mean Idon”t always do what I say I’m going to do and I don’t always mean what I say. Not that I’m a liar as (I detest liars). But I have decided that from now on (yesterday), I am going to make a big determination to be reliable in every situation. This should be fun. Stay tuned.

WOW!!!! USB Lead Changes Morni's Life!

This USB to MIDI cable has changed my life. I have no idea how I’ve coped for so long. (actually I didn’t know you could even do this). I had literally resigned myself to the fact that I could not use my old Yamaha keyboard with my computer as it predates USB, but low and behold, finally there is a solution. I do have other keyboards but it is not the same. I plugged in this cable a few days ago and wow! Life became a breeze. You have to practically drag me kicking  and screaming  from my studio these days. I used to hate working in this room but now everything so hunky dory.  : )

Velocity for recording levels.

This does seem to work as it doesn’t really distort in playback. Well onwards and upwards.
